This group of creatives has a huge vision and will take you to a forgotten world.
Introducing MA+KE LAB
Behind MA+KE LAB´s design there are three creative minds:
Producer: Nele Kont, a graduate of Tallinn University of Technology UT, material science. Brings Paralleelium into the tangible world.
Interior designer: Kevin Pineda, who moonlights as a furniture designer in addition to being a photographer.
Illustrator: Martin Tõnts, Master of Graphic Arts from Estonian Academy of Arts. His creation illuminates and celebrates the line and changes of hue.
MA+KE LAB’s goal is to engage and inspire people by telling stories about lost and forgotten things, to embrace new ideas for a better understanding of the world around us. All in glorious technicolour: drawings and patterns, concepts, furniture and much more are imagined into existence in parallel worlds.
“Paralleelium” Collection Explained
Paralleelium though not an actual word; it’s a feeling, even more, an observatory state. A snippet of time, when all different options are available and open. An interpretation on the subject of reality, real space. And in that state, all realities become possible. Be in love with nature!
The Paraleelium is the portal to another world, to a world where the flora has taken over what humans have left behind. It’s a beautiful, ethereal reality, full of growth and bloom. We don’t know where the world, we once knew, has vanished. But we know, that nature doesn’t turn into nothingness, when all else has dispersed.
This group has been working together for over 3 years in the context of a world in crisis. This has drawn their minds to the alternative ways we could be living. The feeling of responsibility, but also the need for escape is resonating from all over the world. Not knowing which way, the tables will turn for future generations, their minds wonder and dream even deeper of all the realities that could have manifested if decisions would have been made differently.
“In the beginning, the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move.”
By Douglas Adams in “The Restaurant at the End of the Universe”.
The first series of Paralleelium brings explorers to different doors, that hide different realities. Spaces that seem like a distant memory — the parallel world is somehow familiar but in many ways different and not the same. Beautiful, quiet and eternal. Paralleelium lets you travel into this parallel universe, full of beauty, walking hand in hand with melancholy.
The series features extinct plants from MA+KE LAB’s Eternal Garden collection — some gone forever, but some kept alive by loving gardeners.
Extinct plants depicted:
Trochetiopsis ebenus: St Helena Ebony
Nesiota elliptica: St Helena Olive
Archaefructus sinensis
Archaeamphora longicervia
Cooksonia pertoni
Crudia zeylanica: Sri Lanka legume tree
Erica pyramidalis
Pecopteris
Calamites
Trilepidea adamsii: Adams mistletoe
Ginkgo adiantoides
Throughout most of history, there’s been a symbiotic relationship between artists, fictional storytellers, and scientists. It sparks the imaginations for the alternative ways space around us might be, depending on each choice we make as individuals or collectively.
The first series of Paralleelium features 200 unique digital art pieces, bringing explorers to different doors, Behind these different realities are hidden. Space that seems like a distant memory — the parallel world is somehow familiar to us but in many ways different and not the same. Beautiful, quiet and eternal.
The Eternal Garden series focuses on different spaces that offer alternatives or parallels to physical reality. Artworks are titled with locations and geographical coordinates that allow viewers to see parallels between different aspects of reality.
Paralleellium by MA+KE labs lets you journey into this parallel universe. A place for sanctuary and appreciation
