Raoul Kurvitz
Known for his installations, performances, paintings, and objects, Raoul Kurvitz's artistic creations have garnered recognition in prestigious European and American museums and institutions. His video and music creations have been highly appreciated, adding another layer of depth to his body of work.
Born on February 3, 1961, he graduated from the Estonian Academy of Arts as an architect in 1984, now he’s one of the biggest names in the Estonian art scene since the ‘80s.
He created a group Rühm T with his classmate Urmas Muru in 1986, soon joined architect Peeter Pere together with other artists and creative people. Rühm T called their creations cold expressionism, which lacked passion, was distant but still intervening. Kurvitz’ has created installations, performances, paintings, videos and musical pieces.
He represented Estonia for the first time at the Venice Biennale in 1997 together with Jaan Toomik and Siim Tanel Annus. His large-scale personal exhibition “Symphony si-bemol minor. Postapocalyptic” could be seen at Tallinn Art Hall and in front of it on the Freedom Square in 1999. In 2013 a review of his creative life path took place at Kumu Art Museum.
Vano Allsalu
Primarily recognized as an abstract painter, Vano Allsalu's solo exhibitions in Estonia date back to 1984. His artworks have been displayed in overview exhibitions since 1985. Allsalu's works can be categorized into three types, each showcasing his unique artistic vision and experimentation. Notably, his works belonging to the third type provide viewers with a captivating experience resembling a tourist's mobile phone video transmission from an airplane.
Külli Suitso
With a diverse portfolio including oil painting, graphic art, and video, Külli Suitso is an artist from Estonia currently residing in Denmark. She has exhibited her works in various countries, allowing her artistic expressions to reach a global audience. Suitso's art can be found in esteemed collections such as the Matti Milius collection, Loviisa Town Museum in Finland, and Uppsala City Council in Sweden, among others.
Katrin Rüütli
Hailing from Tartu, Estonia, Katrin Rüütli graduated from the Estonian Academy of Arts and specializes in painting. Her artistic work merges realistic motifs with imaginative landscapes, exploring the intricate relationship between photography and digital image editing.
